I have returned from Italy and what a trip! I spent 3 weeks with Sandra Schmidt travelling from North of Verona down to just south of Naples. With Sandras help I was able to visit many kennels and see several famous dogs like Thor, Byron, Conan, Jones, Leon, Queen and many more! Everyone I met along the way was welcoming and kind. Many of the breeders had less than a few hours notice that we were coming and still met me open arms. I took this trip with the hopes of learning more about my bloodlines and the breed and I was not disappointed. I learned more in those 3 weeks than I did in 6 years of reading books and online research. The saying "A picture is worth a thousand words" has no place in the Corso world. I would recommend a trip like this to anyone who loves the Corsos. A highlight of the trip was Rome, we arrived at night so there wasn't much of a crowd. I can't even explain what it felt like to walk around the colosseum with 2 Corsos at my side! Then it was off again to Floras house ( "Dei Silvanbull" Kennel) who was kind enough to open her home for several days. I was lucky enough to get to see a litter born while there. And oh my can that women cook! Many thanks Sandra, without her this trip would never have been possible! |
